ProjectWise Level 2 Connector
The ProjectWise Level 2 connector recognizes that ProjectWise and AssetWise ALIM represent a document as an object with metadata and files. The metadata on a ProjectWise file represents a document object, and the connector allows the same metadata fields (Document number and Revision) to exist on multiple files.
The Level 2 connector differs from ProjectWise Level 1 connector, in that it delivers document control concepts such as document number registration and revisioning (versioning). Processes are flexible as to which system (AssetWise ALIM or ProjectWise) controls the registration and revisioning.
Three fundamental concepts exist in the
ProjectWise Level 2 process:
- AssetWise projects are registered with ProjectWise. This can be an existing project in ProjectWise, or a new project registered from ALIM Web.
- AssetWise ALIM can register a document revision in ProjectWise by providing the key metadata for placeholder creation. AssetWise can then synchronize any metadata or file changes between AssetWise ALIM and ProjectWise for that document revision.
- ProjectWise can register a revision of a document in AssetWise ALIM, or an existing AssetWise ALIM document revision.
